George Davies Turf & Stone joins Harrowden in exciting new chapter for both businesses
Harrowden is delighted to announce the acquisition of George Davies Turf & Stone (GDT), bringing together two highly respected businesses with complementary strengths and a shared ambition for future growth.
Founded by George Davies in 2001, George Davies Turf & Stone has grown into one of the UK’s leading suppliers of turf and landscaping materials, serving more than 2,500 trade customers and supplying approximately 1.4 million rolls of turf each year. The business employs 30 people across its Clifton Reynes and St Albans depots and has built an outstanding reputation for customer service, operational excellence and long-term relationships.
The acquisition marks an important milestone for Harrowden and reflects a long-standing relationship between the two businesses, with Harrowden having supplied George Davies Turf & Stone for many years.
Commenting on the acquisition, Chantall Ridd-Jones, Director at Harrowden, said:

Importantly, George Davies will remain actively involved in the business as part of the senior leadership team, helping to ensure continuity for customers, suppliers and employees while supporting the next phase of growth.

Together, the businesses will have a turnover approaching £20 million, employ more than 130 people and operate from seven locations across the UK, combining national reach with local expertise, customer focus and a shared commitment to quality.
While the acquisition creates opportunities for future investment and growth, both organisations remain committed to maintaining the relationships, service standards and expertise that customers value.
