Practically speaking, we grow turf at our two farms located in Norfolk and Lancashire and our arable enterprise is based at the Norfolk farm. We also run a large fleet of machinery and HGV lorries including specialist turf, potato and arable equipment.

The Role

Harrowden Turf Ltd is seeking a dedicated and adaptable Relief HGV Driver to join our team. This full-time position is ideal for someone with a background

in agriculture or property maintenance who thrives in a hands-on, varied role. On non-driving days, you’ll be involved in different tasks, ensuring no two days are the same.

Key Responsibilities
  • Delivery & Collection: Transport turf and related products from our production site to customers, including private properties, building sites, and commercial addresses.
  • Customer Interaction: Communicate professionally with customers on-site, offering a high standard of customer service.
  • Compliance: Adhere to legal requirements, including tachograph regulations, vehicle checks, load security, weight compliance, and the working time directive.
  • Independent Work: Manage your time effectively and work autonomously.
Requirements
  • Essential:
  • Valid Class 1 HGV C+E licence
  • Driver Qualification Card (DQC) / Driver CPC
  • Digital Tachograph Card
  • Physically fit, capable of handling heavy goods
  • Fluent in English with good communication skills
  • Desirable:
  • Rear Mounted FLT Licence
  • FORS experience

  • Work Hours: Includes nights out, early starts, and occasional Sunday loading when required.
