Our Core Products
When it comes to turf, the choice of grass seed plays an important part in how the finished lawn will look and perform. We draw on all our knowledge to source seed varieties. Then we look for the best possible colour, disease resistance and durability.

Our green roofing products can provide a living roof solution that can support wildlife, improve insulation and add extra colour to your garden. We have sedum kits for pitched and flat roofs as well as Meadowmat wildflower turf, feed and substrate products.
Provide the perfect foundation for your landscaping project with our collection of garden substrates, soil and bark. If you’re relaying your lawn or building a biodiverse green roof, we have the ideal growing medium to help your projects flourish.
Our seeds, plugs and plants can customise your wildflower meadow or add an extra dimension to the planting in any garden.
Caring for your lawn doesn’t end once it is established. We have a range of lawn care equipment and consumables to keep any lawn healthy and looking at its best.
Why Choose Us
We are proud of our position in the UK market and work continually to bring innovation and new technology to the sector. Similarly, we pride ourselves on the quality of our products and in delivering outstanding customer service.
As the UK’s largest grower and distributor of turf we boast a wealth of specialised growing skills and experience coupled with in-depth sector knowledge gained from more than 60 years in the business.
Having adopted the latest turf harvesting technology we have continued to innovate; developing cutting-edge turf, wildflower turf and seed varieties to address the changing climate conditions, the move to greener alternatives and the constant pace of consumer demand.
It is generally accepted that turf should be laid as soon as it is delivered. In the summer this is even more important as turf left on the pallet will build heat and suffer accordingly.
Harrowden has looked at several ways to mitigate the effects of “sod-heating” and has run several experiments in recent years but the adoption of night harvesting has been a game-changer for teams and customers. In 2024 we switched to night harvesting for a period of nearly ten weeks. It meant significant change for our harvesting teams.
But the results speak for themselves. During the period of night harvest, our turf is typically delivered within 6 hours of harvest, ensuring the freshest product for our customers.
We have taken control of our own wildflower seed production taking the unprecedented step of taking complete ownership of our wildflower seed product throughout its lifecycle. So, we are growing our own plants, cleaning our own seeds and bringing our own seeds to market. Not only will we be using our own seed in our Meadowmat wildflower turf, but we are also making it available to our various markets as fully traceable wildflower seed mixes.
